Lieutenant Scott Dickerson joined Blackhawk Police Services on March 30, 2026, as its new Chief.

He brings more than 24 years of law enforcement experience with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, where he began his career in March 2002. As a Deputy Sheriff, he served in a variety of assignments, including the Martinez Detention Facility (MDF), county patrol, and the contract cities of San Ramon and Danville.

In 2012, he was promoted to Sergeant and returned to the MDF as a supervisor. He later transferred to the Patrol Division, where he worked the Town of Danville and county patrol before moving to the Investigations Division. There, he supervised both the Special Victims Unit and the Homicide Unit.

Promoted to Lieutenant in August 2023, he served as Valley Station Commander and Assistant SWAT Commander. He remained Valley Station Commander until his selection as Blackhawk Police Chief.

Lieutenant Dickerson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Chico State University. Following graduation, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer. He is also a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute.

He and his wife, Loretta, have been married for 38 years and have two sons.
