Deputy Gilbert began his career with the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in 2017 after graduating from the Law Enforcement Training Center (LETC). While in the Academy, he obtained the Academic Achievement Award, scoring the highest of all recruits in written exams.

Deputy Gilbert worked in both the Martinez Detention Facility and the West County Detention Facility for a total of 4 years before transferring to the Patrol Division in 2021.
While assigned to patrol, Deputy Gilbert has worked at Bay Station (Richmond), Valley Station (Alamo), and a stint within the contracted services of AC Transit on the county’s west end. While assigned to Valley Station, he often assisted on calls for service within the Blackhawk community, becoming familiar with the jurisdiction and its residents.
Prior to working for the Sheriff’s Office, he was a control room operator for Genentech, a security officer at the gated community of Rancho Solano (Fairfield) and worked as a commercial and residential painter.
In his spare time, Deputy Gilbert enjoys camping with his wife and six-year-old daughter, along with riding dirt bikes and ATVs.
