Deputy David Sandy will be joining the Blackhawk Police Department in mid-January 2022. Deputy Sandy has been with the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff since April 2011.
Deputy Sandy started his career at the Martinez Detention Facility and served as a Facility Training Officer. He transferred to patrol in January 2014 and while on patrol, he worked numerous assignments as a Patrol Deputy. Most recently he was assigned to Delta Station where he served the residents of East County. He has also served as a Traffic Enforcement Officer in the City of Orinda. Deputy Sandy is also an academy instructor for the Sheriff’s Office where he serves as a driving instructor, teaching safe driving to the academy and in-service officers.Deputy Sandy enjoys barbecuing and cooking in his spare time. He also enjoys archery and firearms.
Deputy Sandy has a 7-year-old son who self describes as being “obsessed” with trains. He and his son can often be found visiting various train museums and exhibits throughout Northern California, exploring the history and culture around late 1800’s and early 1900’s steam trains.
